A Search Engine is an indexed collection of web page locations along with a documented list of assocciated keywords. This information is compiled into a large data base which is available for visitors to search through to find specific web pages carrying the keywords you are looking for. Not all search engines are supported by their own data base, they merely use their perameters to search other data bases for their niche topics. An example might be that one search engine may search other search engines or directories to find all web pages with musical content.
